Athens, Fly, Stay & Cruise - Seven Days

(For Individual Tourists / FIT) 

Day 1: Athens

Arrival at Athens airport and private transfer by deluxe, air-conditioned car to the hotel. Accommodation at the Attica Coast, also known as the Athenian Riviera, in the beautiful seaside surroundings of the exclusive suburb of Vouliagmeni, at a convenient distance from Athens. Alternatively, you may choose from a range of top-class, luxurious hotels in central Athens which are perfectly located for your explorations of this historical city.

Overnight at the hotel. 

Day 2: Athens sightseeing and Acropolis Museum

After breakfast, you will embark on a comprehensive half-day tour to the classical and modern highlights of Athens, which include the ancient Panathinaiko (= of all Athens) Stadium, cradle of the first modern Olympic Games of 1896 (short stop). Pass by the Prime Minister"s residence, the ex Royal Palace, (guarded by the colourful ‘Evzones’ in traditional costume), and the Zappion Conference and Exhibition Hall.

The tour continues by  passing by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, noted for its very tall columns, the National Gardens, Hadrian’s Arc (Roman), St. Paul’s Church, Parliament, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Schliemann’s House (Numismatic Museum), the Catholic Cathedral, Academy, University, National Library, Old Parliament, Constitution Square, Russian Orthodox Church, and finally the Acropolis (visit Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon, Erechtheion with its Porch of Maidens). Continue the expert guided Athens sightseeing and museum tour with a pleasant short walk passing by Herodion and Dionysos Theatre, in order to visit the new Acropolis museum, where main attractions such as votives, artefacts of everyday life, statues from the archaic period, the Caryatids, and of course the Parthenon Hall with the metopes, the pediments and the frieze will all deeply impress you with their artistic beauty and sublime levels of workmanship.  

Free time for shopping - lunch arrangements. 

This very interesting day continues with the afternoon tour to Cape Sounion. Depart for a wonderful drive along the scenic coastal road which affords a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf, passing through some of Athens’ most beautiful suburbs (Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza) to Cape Sounion where you will visit the Temple of Poseidon where one is deeply impressed by one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world. 

Day 3

Optional, full day for classical or cruise tour

   -  Option Delphi (full day) 

Explore one of the most famous archaeological sites of Greece with this one day tour from Athens. After leaving Athens, we continue through Thebes, Levadia (short stop) and Arachova for Delphi, known in ancient times as the navel of the world. Pass by Castalia Spring, visit at the archaeological site the Temple of Apollo famous for its oracle and the Museum of Delphi,with it"s spectacular finds, including the bronze Charioteer, the Naxian Sphinx and the Statue of Antinoos.

After lunch return to Athens via the picturesque mountain village of Arachova, built on the southern slopes of Parnassus, well known for its attractive hand-woven carpets, rugs and quilts, as well as for its wine and cheese (short stop).

   -  or Option Epidavros, Mycenae and Argolis tour (full day) 

Explore with this guided one full day tour the remains of the ancient city of Mycenae, a major centre of Greek civilization from 1600BC to 1100BC and a world heritage monument. Depart for one day tour via the coastal National highway for the Corinth Canal (short stop). Drive to Mycenae and visit the archaeological site, home to the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon. Visit the Palace, the Lionesses Gate and the Tomb of King Agamemnon. Before lunch, we offer an optional stop at a pottery factory. After lunch, the tour continues through the town of Argos to Nauplion, which was the first capital of modern Greece and where you will see the Venetian fortress of Palamidi and the fortified islet of Bourtzi (short stop). Continue to Epidaurus and visit the ancient theatre. 

The Mycenae - Epidaurus tour returns to Athens in the late afternoon.

   -  or Full Day Cruise to the Saronic Islands

The coasts of the regions Attica / Athens, Argolis and Corinthia are on the Saronic Gulf – and so are the beautiful and picturesque islands of Aegina, Poros and Hydra. Each of these little gems has a large variety of attractions to offer – beautiful nature, picturesque villages, important archaeological sites, shopping, good food and a relaxing atmosphere. These are all good reasons for a full-day cruise, which we are pleased to offer as one of our options for Day 3.

Return to hotel in the afternoon for overnight stay. 

Days 4 to 7: Luxury Cruise from Piraeus to Mykonos, Kuşadası, Patmos and Santorini 

Check-out and transfer by deluxe, air-conditioned car from hotel to the port of Piraeus. Embarkation for a memorable 3-day cruise to Mykonos, Kuşadası, (Patmos*), Heraklion and Santorini by luxury ship. 

Day 7

Arrival at Piraeus port and private transfer by deluxe air conditioned car to Athens airport for departure.
